Theri 2016 Movie Review

Theri came out early in Malaysia and Singapore before the release in India so we got to watch them earlier!
Okay, lets get going with the review.

Plot: The plot was quite predictable. It was predictable from the trailer itself. However, Atlee took a predictable story and added a special touch and made it super entertaining. Obviously the audience knew what's gonna happen, like bruh we knew where you're going to, but I wasn't bored at all. The action part, however, was too exaggerated. I thought we have passed the "hero punches once but all rowdies fly and fall" part in Tamil movies. But we all know that Vijay is a superhero so it's acceptable. This movie is a perfect mix of humour, action, love and sadness. I laughed like crazy, shed a few tears and cringed at every fight scene. A movie that can make me feel so much is definitely a good one.

Cast: VIJAY killed it. Murdered it. Freaking slaughtered his role. He looked amazing, danced amazing and delivered his role really well. His daddy role with Nainika was so adorable. Nainika wow. At such a young age, she fulfilled her role adequately. Amy Jackson's role was a tad bit small but prominent still. Samantha was so gorgeous. She played her role well and her chemistry,biology, physics and all with Vijay was wonderful. I loved them together. The villain, Mahendran, DAMMNN SON! He was an amazing negative role who made me so angry for being annoyingly villain-y. Also, the presence of Rajendran just made me 10 times happier. I probably cheered more for him than the main actors. Overall, cast was on point and they did an outstanding job.

Music: Jithu Jiladdi is definitely a dance number. Deva's voice paired with GV's music and that beat though. Mind-blowing, head-banging, leg-shaking number.
Eena Meena teeka was super adorbs too. Plus the song has great beat.
En Jeevan is going to be my go-to love song definitely.
My favourite is the theme music. It was bombdiggity. I'm gonna play it at my wedding.
Other songs were all good too but didn't really stick to my mind after the first listen. But still amazing work GV.

Visuals: I usually don't talk bout this aspect of movies but the visuals and camera work in this movie was tremendously good. The music videos were all extravagant and elaborately beautiful. The whole movie was so colorful, even the fight sequences. The overall vibes that the movie delivered was so refreshing and such a eye candy.

Overall verdict : 4.15/5.00, It was theri-ffic.

Me and my two friends left to Ipoh by car from UKM and bout 15 mins later after we entered the highway, the car got overheated. We stopped the car by the road side and checked what was wrong. We saw that the radiator cap was open and all the water has splashed out. There was only one small water bottle in the car which was insufficient as the water was completely depleted. Not knowing what to do, we started calling up some friends. All this while, numerous lorries and cars passed, hooting and whistling at us because three girls by the road, what else would you expect?

Then suddenly a van (Atlas Copco Service Care) hooted at us and stopped nearby our car. We were relieved a little cause someone has stopped to help but still cautious. 3 Indian guys stepped out of the van and we panicked. Now, don't blame us for judging them just by looking at them cause half of my life, most of the time Indian guys either whistled or gave us some stupid remarks as they passed by. So yeah, it was part of a Indian girl's defense mechanism.

Anyhow, they came and asked what was wrong and checked the car. But they didn't have water too so they couldn't do much. One of the bros told us to drive to the nearest R&R so we can fill up the radiator. They even offered to follow us until we reached the R&R. However, after a short distance the car over heated again and we had to stop. My friend got super scared that if she drove further, the car would explode and one of the bros volunteered to drive the car. Again the red light went up in my brain, me being paranoid and all. So, I quickly sent the number plate of the van to one of my friends just in case you know, we get kidnapped or something. AND AGAIN WE HAD TO STOP COS THE CAR OVER HEATED AGAIN. We stopped again and by God's grace, a passing plusliner car stopped and helped us out. They gave us a gallon of water to fill up the tank and then we were good to go till the R&R.

The 3 bros again followed us until we safely reached the R&R and thoroughly checked the engine and what not and made sure everything was alright. Then they gave us a huge mineral water bottle just in case the car overheats again and two cloths so we don't burn our hands when we open the radiator cap. Then, they gave us their number and asked us to call them if the car stops again and also to send a message once we've reached Ipoh.

This was the time to say goodbye and me and my friends were wondering whether is there like a service charge or any amount of money that we should pay them. So we asked them and one of them said, "you can give us however much you want". So, my friend opened her bag to get money and the bro started laughing and said, "I was just joking la. There is no need to pay us. We were just helping another Indian out".

And then they drove away. I can't begin to express my gratitude to them. How many people are as willing as them to help a stranger out and that too for free? It completely slipped my mind to take a picture with them and I'm so angry for that. However, they left a huge impact on us and we couldn't stop talking about them throughout our journey back. Thank you so much and this has inspired us to help others too. We would definitely pay it forward

And after we left the R&R, we went to meet two of our juniors who also came so far just cause we called them. They even surveyed for mechanic shops around the area and again checked the engine before sending us off. THANK YOU!

So many good souls today who helped at a time where we were helpless. The three of us told each other that after this we also must help people out although not involving a car cause we're useless in that but yeah we'll try other things for sure.
